A deadly virus is ravaging the world, and the only known antidote is inconveniently located… over 130 years ago. Fortunately, the good folk at Escapologic have a time machine to get us there!

Great things about Chronos:
- While plenty of escape rooms set their story in a past era, we loved that the first part of Chronos involved using a time machine to get to our Victorian destination. This added an extra stage to the game, and it subtly changed the nature of the immersion: in this game you don’t play some abstract Victorian personnage; you play you, but in the past.
- Chronos has a handsome, well-decorated set, with lots of interesting objects in keeping with the theme.
- Compared to Reactorvate, also at Escapologic in Leicester, this was a puzzlier room with some multi-step challenges. The most memorable elements for us were the nifty devices and machines that had been custom designed and built to form part of the puzzles.
- Escapologic has welcoming staff with lots to say about their favourite escape rooms.
On the other hand…
- One element of Chronos was counter-intuitive for us: rather than all items being used only once, here we had to come back to something we’d already used later in the game. While this isn’t inherently a problem, it’s not the Usual Way of Things, so some more signposting to push us in this direction would have helped us.
Who should try this room?
Anyone with a hankering nostalgia for halcyon Victorian days, or an urge to save the world from a terrible epidemic – or just a desire to play a well-crafted, challenging escape room with impressive components.
